Doris 195 WEB

Dec. 26, 1932 – Nov. 4, 2013

Doris was born in East Shannon, Ill., to Florence and G. Ray Moll. After a long illness, she went to be with the Lord on Nov. 4 at home surrounded by family.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years Ray; son Jeffrey and wife Teri and grandson Logan of Texas; daughter Kris and husband David and six grandkids: Justin, Jordin, Ashley, Adison, Tina and Keni of Simi Valley; brother Kenneth Moll and sister Phillis Lawson of Shannon, Ill.

Doris grew up on the farm, attending a one-room schoolhouse for her first few years. After high school, at 16 years old in 1949 she went to North Central College where, in 1953, she graduated with her B.A. She then taught second and third grades.     In 1957, she and two other teachers wanting to travel came to California with the thought of teaching here for two to three years. But in 1959 she met a young man named Ray. After dating for a year, they were married on July 10, 1960 in Shannon at her home church.

Doris taught school in Downey, Calif., then, after moving to La Crescenta in 1961, she taught at R.D. White in Glendale. After their son Jeffrey was born she became a stay-at-home mom. Two years later, daughter Christy (Kris) joined the family.

Doris and Ray have been active at First Baptist Church at La Crescenta for 47 years where Doris was the church historian.

The family had a graveside service at Forest Lawn on Monday, Nov. 11 and a memorial service on Saturday, Nov. 16 at First Baptist Church where many friends came to remember her.

She will be missed by all who loved her, but all know she is now well and at home with the Lord.
